Mercedes Paniccia Senior Research Associate Field of interest: Space astroparticle physics at the GeV to multi-TeV scale. Design and construction of space-born cosmic-ray detectors I am an experimental physicist working in space astroparticle physics since 20 years. I am currently leading the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) group at the University of Geneva. I am also coordinator of the Magnet construction workpackage for the EU funded project on the Penetrating Particle Analyzer (PAN) detector for radiation in space. Since 2017, I lead the AMS data analysis group at University of Geneva whose research focus on the measurement of cosmic-ray nuclei fluxes and isotopic composition of light nuclei, with the aim of studying the propagation mechanism of cosmic rays in the Galaxy. Short bio: I have accomplished my studies in Physics at University of Rome ``La Sapienza'' in Italy, where I have obtained a Master's degree in Particle Physics. I have obtained a PhD in Physics from the University of Geneva with a study on solar activity effects on cosmic-ray fluxes detected in near-Earth space by the prototype AMS-01 detector. I have worked at INFN (Italy) on the detection of neutrino oscillations at the OPERA experiment, and at CNRS (France) on the AMS experiment. I am a member of the AMS Collaboration since 2003, I have contributed to the construction and integration of the semiconductor detectors for the Silicon Tracker, to the calibration and the commissioning of the electromagnetic calorimeter, to the operation of the AMS detector, and to data reconstruction and analysis. Since 2012, I work in the space astroparticle group of the University of Geneva.
